Cape youngsters make sailing history!
The youth development organisation Cape Windjammers Education Trust (CWET) has secured an amazing opportunity for a South African team (10 youngsters aged 15 to 18, and 2 team leaders) to join the Canadian tall ship SV Concordia for an educational sail voyage for 2.5 months from April to mid June 2009 travelling from Cape Town to Bermuda via Namibia, St. Helena, Brazil and Trinidad!

This will be the first time that youngsters from the African continent get the opportunity to participate in such an exciting shipboard school project which is made possible by the West Island College, who operates the Class Afloat program (http://www.classafloat.com/). The team will be joining 25 Canadian students on board the SV Concordia when it docks in Cape Town harbour on 2 April and sets sail on 7 April.
At each port trainees will have the opportunity to go ashore and experience the culture and unique conditions of that country. Through this weblog, we will keep you all updated about our adventures during this life changing sail trip, sending postings and photos from each port that we will be visiting! Port Dates are as Follows:
13-17 April 2009 - Walvis Bay
27-30 April 2009 - St. Helena
14-18 May 2009 - Port Natal, Brazil
31 May-3 June 2009 - Trinidad and Tobago
12-18 June 2009 - Bermuda
16 June - Gatwick, UK
17 June - Cape Town
