4 April 2009 – Team SA goes aboard

Finally the big day has come! At 8:30 sharp Team SA gathers at quay 6 in front of Table Bay Hotel to board the S.V. Concordia …

No more fantasy, no more planning, no turning back …

The morning started well – CSM Consulting Services, who made a generous contribution towards the travel costs for 2 team members, and who also organized much of the media coverage (so very well done Linda!) gave each Team SA member and leaders 3 stunning T-Shirts.

And First Ascent, who already supported Team SA 2008 with some awesome outdoor equipment items – again this year came in to sponsor some of the Team’s equipment …

Much of the morning was spent with Photoshoots, and interviews by the press … especially eTV was a major highlight …

Then finally Team members are shown to their cabins, and they found out who they are going to share quarters with in the next 2,5 months. … by the way, amongst the 25 learners on board there are not only Canadians, but also 2 Americans, 3 Mexicans and 6 Germans.

In the afternoon real action starts and team members get their first safety instructions … before learning about all the ships rules.
