Dear Friends and Families,
The Concordia has been making best speed to Trinidad but the winds have not been cooperative. The vessel has encountered either no wind (the
doldrums) or wind on her nose, making progress even with the engine a challenge. The vessel finally caught some good wind yesterday and will make up some time over the weekend.
At this point the ETA for Trinidad will need to be revised to June 3rd @ 0600. The vessel will plan to call in Port of Spain, Trinidad for the day for shore leave time and to provision/fuel and do a crew exchange.
Captain Bill will be departing the program and will be replaced with Captain Remi Trzaska for the month of June. We will also add a new mate to the mix - Eric Romelczyk will join us as a 3rd mate, in training, to sail through to Lunenburg and then continue on with the program for the summer. The vessel will sail that evening for Bermuda.
We are all disappointed that the safety equipment replacement and poor winds have resulted in 3 fewer days in port in Trinidad but are comforted that the vessel has sailed with all gear in good order and that the students were able to enjoy 2 extra days of shore leave in Natal as a result of the delay.
If there are any changes I will keep you updated.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Best,
Kate
